UC, once a premier research university, is now long dead. It died as a respectable institution when it sold its soul to the military industrial complex. Yet it prostitutes itself once again, by allowing its name to be used to bolster the illusion of legitimacy within the science community when, in fact, there is none. Los Alamos is now a shadow of its once glorious past thanks now, in no small measure, to UC's penchant for dominance and control at all cost. Livermore will likely meet a similar fate once the dust settles from this sham of a competition. Just give it time.
